Draft Jo Ann Removes Offensive Post

We would like to thank the Draft Jo Ann Emerson blog for removing the offensive post that we discussed in our most recent entry.

Draft Emerson Group Misleads Readers

The Draft Jo Ann Emerson blog has incorrectly associated this respectable site with "hate mail" that they have received. This allegation is false. They cannot produce any email from anyone associated with the operation of this site, simply because those emails do not exist.

Just goes to show you, don't believe everything you read on the internet!

We believe that Rep. Emerson is probably a great woman, although we've never met her. We also believe that she does not represent the Missouri Republican Party. She has voted to fund embryonic stem cell research. She met with Bush to ask him to cut and run from Iraq, then she voted to prematurely withdraw our troops from Iraq. She voted to raise the minimum wage. Is this who we want representing our conservative values?

Keep up the good work!

Around noon today, Kenny was in second place in John Combest's online poll. Now, with 1900 votes cast, we're winning with 39.4% of the votes to Rod Jetton's 36.1%. Good job, team! Keep up the good work. Keep those votes coming in, and let's get some more signatures on our online petition!

Sen. Greisheimer Supports Hulshof!

Thank you Sen. John Greisheimer of Washington for supporting Kenny now! You can read the article on the Columbia Tribune Politics Blog.

"Kenny is my congressman obviously and I love him. He’s a
great guy...I would support [Hulshof.]”

VOTE FOR KENNY!

Hulshof is in second place in this online poll. Let's push him into first! VOTE NOW!

Shields and Hobbs are Pro-Kenny

Here's the story from the Columbia Tribune. Here are some highlights:

Senate Majority Leader Charlie Shields, R-St. Joseph, said it would be more difficult to pin the Medicaid cuts, for example, on a candidate with political experience outside Jefferson City such as U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof.

“Nixon’s strategy for the last three years has been every morning you get up — if Matt Blunt says the sky is blue, then Nixon’s going to say it’s red,” said Senate Majority Leader Charlie Shields, R-St. Joseph. “That strategy’s gone.”

And:

One distinct possibility would be Hulshof, who nearly ran for governor in 2004. But a possible primary clash against Blunt never came to be after the six-term Congressman decided to run for re-election after the death of his father.

Hulshof interviewed to become President of the University of Missouri system late last year, but didn’t get the position. But a possibility of a vacancy sparked a long list of possible contenders on both sides of the aisle.

A spokesman for Hulshof didn’t confirm nor deny the possibility of a run for governor.

“Kenny is very surprised by the news,” said Hulshof spokesman Scott Baker. “No further comment.”

Rep. Steve Hobbs, R-Mexico, said he would be ‘thrilled’ if Hulshof decided to jump into the governor’s race.

“I would hate to lose him as my congressman, but I think he’d be a fabulous governor,” Hobbs said. “And I was just talking with some people on the phone talking about that very thing. I think he’d be a fabulous governor.”

Sign the Petition!

I just created an online petition that urges Hulshof to enter the race for Governor. Please take a moment to sign it.

Draft Hulshof for Governor!

Governor Matt Blunt recently announced that he will not seek a second term as Governor of Missouri. The Governor did a lot to move the state in the right direction, but there is more work to be done. Blunt's announcement has opened the field to a large number of potential Republican candidates who seek to take his place. Of those, Kenny Hulshof, the Congressman from Columbia, stands the best chance of winning. In addition to that, he stands the best chance of governing effectively.

Hulshof has built a reputation in the 9th District as a fair and bi-partisan legislator, which is exactly what Missouri needs in this moment of bitter partisan divide. In fact, he stood up against corrupt officials in his own party and was kicked off the Ethics Committee in retaliation. This is the type of strength and leadership that we need.

Just take a look at the list of accomplishments posted on his website. Cutting taxes. Ethanol and biodiesel tax incentives. Education savings accounts. Clearly, we need Kenny Hulshof.
